CHOCOLATE HILLS

The Chocolate Hills are a geological formation in the Bohol province of the Philippines. There are at least 1,260 hills, but there may be as many as 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometers. They are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, hence the name.

PHILIPPINE TARSIER SANCTUARY

The Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary is an eco-tourism destination located in the Corella, Bohol. It is where you can see and visit the smallest primate that are mostly found in Southeast Asia.

HINDAGDANAN CAVE

Meaning “Laddered” in Cebuano, the Hinagdanan cave is one of the many wondrous caves in the island province of Bohol. It is a naturally lighted cavern with a deep lagoon and many large stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is lit by sunlight which filters through holes in the ceiling.

LOBOC RIVER

The Loboc River is a river in the Bohol province of the Philippines. It is one of the major tourist destinations of Bohol. The source of the Loboc River is located in the town of Loboc, almost in the center of Bohol.

BACLAYON CHURCH

Built in 1596, it is considered as the oldest church in Bohol. Its majestic facade leads to an undeniably stunning interior which includes a gold-plated altar and an assortment of centuries-old religious images and artifacts.

PUNTA CRUZ

Ancient stone watchtower built by the townspeople as a lookout for incoming pirates. On a rock lip that juts out into the sea, fronting the tower, stands a wooden cross. Legend has it that by extending a mysterious spell over the sea, the cross has saved many people from the ravages of pirates and marauders. The tower holds a commanding view of the sea facing Cebu, Siquijor and Mindanao and has been officially designated as a historical tourist spot.

SIPATAN HANGING BRIDGE

It used to be the bridge used by the locals to cross the Sipatan river. Originally this bridge was only made of woven bamboo slats, ropes and some cables. Nowadays this bamboo hanging bridge is one of the tourist destinations in Bohol.

MAN-MADE FOREST

Bilar man-made forest was part of a bigger reforestation project that was created in response to the alarming deforestation in the Loboc watershed. This was caused by the destructive slash and burn farming system called kaingin, which was done by the locals who sought refuge in the forested area during World War II.

BUTTERFLY SANCTUARY

Bohol Butterfly Sanctuaries have been established by butterfly enthusiasts and are now gaining recognition. There are more or less 300 butterfly species native to the province and the sanctuaries are aiming to conserve and raise the butterfly population in the island.
